Overview

On May 9-10, 2024, the International Alliance for Diabetes Action (IADA) hosted the 4^th Symposium on Diabetes in Humanitarian Crises in collaboration with the London School of Hygiene and Tropical Medicine (LSHTM) Centre for Global Chronic Conditions (CGCC), Harvard Humanitarian Initiative, and Brigham and Women’s Hospital, and sponsored by The Leona M. and Harry B. Helmsley Charitable Trust. The Symposium was a hybrid event held in Athens, Greece and brought together over one hundred attendees from 62 various organizations, representing 33 countries and 6 global regions. In line with past symposia, the purpose was to provide a platform for shared learning, exchange, and development of collaborative initiatives between key agencies involved in diabetes care for people experiencing humanitarian crisis.
